Shadows Gather Darkly
The Gnoph-keh is a beast with many oddities that haunts regions of cold and frozen. The body of a bear, its fur is white as snow, it has too many legs – six rather than four. Its claws are black and red, and it has a magnificent, wicked horn that projects from the middle of its muzzle, so sharp that whatever it strikes is easily pierced.
They are more dangerous than a maddened bear and more ferocious than a hunted boar. When they hunt they wrap themselves in terrible storms like a man hides crouches in bushes. Gnoph-keh do not neglect the business of healing themselves. If they are afflicted by a mortal blow and injured by wounds, they know how to heal themselves. But causing wounds is difficult, as their hide and fur is thick and covers tough gristly flesh, leaving swords to pierce but slightly. They feel not the cold of their homes, and it is said that fire takes an age to cook their flesh.
